CASE
We present the case of a 26-year-old otherwise healthy man with an isolated tibial and fibular shaft fracture who developed signs of fat embolism syndrome (FES) within 6 hours of injury and prior to any operative treatment.
CONCLUSION
General orthopaedists and traumatologists should be aware that the onset of FES is not always delayed for several days, but can develop within 6 hours of injury. After initiation of appropriate management, including respiratory support, our patient did well. There was union of the fracture, and he was able to return to work at 3 months postinjury.

我们报告一例26岁身体健康的男性，其孤立性胫腓骨干骨折，在受伤后6小时内且未进行任何手术治疗之前就出现了脂肪栓塞综合征（FES）的症状。
结论
普通骨科医生和创伤外科医生应意识到，FES的发作并不总是延迟数天，而是可能在受伤后6小时内就出现。在采取包括呼吸支持在内的适当治疗措施后，我们的患者恢复良好。骨折实现了愈合，他在受伤后3个月能够重返工作岗位。
