A new material (Alg-TSC), based on alginate (Alg) chemically modified with thiosemicarbazide (TSC), has been synthesized and tested as an effective biomaterial to remove Pb(II) and Cd(II) ions in aqueous solutions. The synthesis was carried out by controlling the following steps, i/partial oxidation process of alginate in NaIO to obtain AlgOx, ii/reacting of AlgOx, at 40-45 °C, with TSC in NaBH. Alg-TSC has been characterized by Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM/EDS), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (ATR-IR), solid state C NMR spectroscopy and Point of Zero Charge (pH) measuremenmts. In order to enhance the sorption process, the effect of contact time, sorbent dosage, initial concentration and reusability of the novel sorbent were investigated becoming the Alg-TSC a promising material capable of removing high concentrations of heavy metal ions such as Pb(II) (up to 950 mg/g at pH 3) and Cd(II) (up to 300 mg/g at pH 7) in aqueous solutions.
一种新型材料(Alg-TSC),是通过alginate(Alg)与 thiosemicarbazide(TSC)化学修饰得到的,已经被合成并测试为一种有效去除水溶液中 Pb(II) 和 Cd(II) 离子的生物材料。该合成通过控制以下步骤进行,i/alginate 在 NaIO 中的部分氧化过程以获得 AlgOx,ii/AlgOx 在 40-45°C 下与 NaBH 中的 TSC 反应。Alg-TSC 通过场发射扫描电子显微镜(FESEM/EDS)、傅里叶变换红外光谱(ATR-IR)、固态 C NMR 光谱和零电荷点(pH)测量进行了表征。为了增强吸附过程,研究了接触时间、吸附剂用量、初始浓度和新型吸附剂的可重复使用性的影响,使 Alg-TSC 成为一种有前途的材料,能够去除水溶液中的高浓度重金属离子,如 Pb(II)(在 pH 3 时高达 950mg/g)和 Cd(II)(在 pH 7 时高达 300mg/g)。
