A non-powder firearm including air shotgun remains a significant source of injury to children. It causes severe damage and can involve the brain, eyes, heart, abdomen, and other body parts.
A toddler boy was accidentally shot by an air shotgun at the forehead, and there was no sign of neurological deficit, both before and after surgical removal of the pellet. Herein, we report a case of air shotgun pellet which penetrated a toddler's head from the forehead, all the way up to the occiput. Removal of the pellet was successfully performed without eliciting any neurological sequelae.
Air shotgun pellet may potentially cause severe injury to the central nervous system when the head is affected, which can be safely prevented by a prompt but deliberate surgical removal. The study would also like to emphasise the importance of education to reduce gunshot incidence in the pediatric population.
包括气枪在内的非火药枪支仍是儿童受伤的一个重要来源。它会造成严重损伤,可累及大脑、眼睛、心脏、腹部和身体其他部位。
一名幼儿男孩被气枪意外射中前额,在手术取出弹丸前后均无神经功能缺损迹象。在此,我们报告一例气枪弹丸从前额穿透幼儿头部直至枕部的病例。成功进行了弹丸取出术,未引发任何神经后遗症。
当头部受到影响时,气枪弹丸可能会对中枢神经系统造成严重损伤,及时而谨慎的手术取出可安全预防这种损伤。该研究还强调了开展教育以降低儿科人群枪支伤害发生率的重要性。
