This study was performed to investigate the effects of aging on nasality and the influence of age-related changes in nasal cavity volume and nasal patency on nasality.
A total of 180 healthy Korean-speaking adult volunteers, who had no nasal or voice-related complaints, were enrolled in this study. Nasometry, acoustic rhinometry, and rhinomanometry were performed to obtain the nasalance score, nasal cavity volume, and nasal resistance, respectively. Changes in these parameters with age were analyzed.
Nasal cavity volume increased significantly, and nasal resistance decreased significantly, with age. The nasalance scores for the nasal passage and oronasal passage decreased significantly with age, while there were no age-related changes in nasalance scores for the oral passage.
Nasalance scores for the passages containing nasal consonants decreased with age although significant increases were observed in nasal cavity volume and nasal patency with age. Therefore, the age-related decreases in nasalance scores may result from factors other than changes in the nasal cavity.
本研究旨在调查衰老对鼻音的影响,以及鼻腔容积和鼻通畅度的年龄相关变化对鼻音的影响。
本研究共纳入180名无鼻部或嗓音相关主诉的讲韩语的健康成年志愿者。分别进行鼻音测量、鼻声反射测量和鼻阻力测量,以获得鼻音计评分、鼻腔容积和鼻阻力。分析这些参数随年龄的变化。
随着年龄增长,鼻腔容积显著增加,鼻阻力显著降低。鼻道和口鼻道的鼻音计评分随年龄显著降低,而口腔道的鼻音计评分无年龄相关变化。
