Black patients who desire cosmetic surgery have not had many treatment options or services available to them. At this time, the requests for specific cosmetic surgical procedures by black patients have far exceeded the number of cosmetic surgeons able to meet their needs. A surgeon who calls himself or herself a cosmetic surgeon can no longer limit professional services to white patients only. The patient selection process must be color-blind, for only then will the patient perceive that his or her doctor truly has a sense of ethnic fair play.
