Pulmonary function of the transplanted human lung.

Satisfactory function of the transplanted lung is an important determinant of long-term survival following combined heart and lung transplantation. Furthermore, assessment of respiratory function in transplant recipients is one of the few currently available methods of detecting pulmonary rejection. This chapter reviews the available data on the function of the transplanted lung based on the first four years of the Stanford experience.
