The most common high-risk behaviors that have profound and adverse effects on the health of the community take place in the university environment. Nowadays, the necessity of exploring ways to correct and reduce the high-risk behaviors requires identification of its determinant factors. Therefore, the present study aimed to investigate the correlation between spiritual health and high-risk behaviors among university students in the southeast of Iran in 2017-2018.
This survey was a cross-sectional study. The population was all students studying at three central Universities in Kerman. Eight hundred and four students participated in the survey using a quota sampling method. The research instrument was a demographic questionnaire and the 20-item spiritual well-being Palutzian and Ellison scale and the Iranian Adolescent Riskiness Scale (IARS), which includes 39 items for high-risk behaviors.
The mean total score of high-risk behaviors was 79.16 ± 24.6 which was lower than the median (117). The spiritual health of the majority of subjects (66.7%) was moderate with an average of 90.65 ± 16.64. There was a significant negative correlation between the students' spiritual health and their high-risk behaviors.
It is necessary and essential to plan and implement spiritual-based interventions to reduce the incidence of high-risk behaviors.
对社区健康产生深远不利影响的最常见高风险行为发生在大学环境中。如今,探索纠正和减少高风险行为方法的必要性要求识别其决定因素。因此,本研究旨在调查2017 - 2018年伊朗东南部大学生精神健康与高风险行为之间的相关性。
本调查为横断面研究。研究对象为克尔曼市三所中心大学的所有在校学生。采用配额抽样法,804名学生参与了调查。研究工具包括一份人口统计学问卷、20项的精神幸福感帕卢齐安和埃里森量表以及伊朗青少年风险行为量表(IARS),该量表包含39项高风险行为。
高风险行为的平均总分是79.16 ± 24.6,低于中位数(117)。大多数受试者(66.7%)的精神健康状况为中等,平均分为90.65 ± 16.64。学生的精神健康与他们的高风险行为之间存在显著的负相关。
有必要规划和实施基于精神层面的干预措施以降低高风险行为的发生率。
