Abstract

OBJECTIVES

To assess the effects of a yoga nidra on life stress and self-esteem in university students.

METHODS

This study is a non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest design. Forty university students were selected by convenience sampling, with 20 assigned to a yoga nidra group and 20 to a control group. The yoga group participated in bi-weekly, 1-h sessions of yoga nidra for 8 weeks. Life stress intensity level was measured using a 10 cm Visual Analog Scale. Self-esteem score was measured by Rosenberg's Self-Esteem Scale.

RESULTS

The yoga nidra group showed significantly decreased life stress intensity levels compared to the control group. The yoga group also showed significantly increased self-esteem scores compared to the control group.

CONCLUSIONS

These findings indicate that yoga nidra could alleviate the life stress intensity level and increase the self-esteem in university students.

本研究采用非等组前后测设计。通过便利抽样选取了 40 名大学生,其中 20 名被分配到瑜伽睡眠组,20 名被分配到对照组。瑜伽组参加了为期 8 周、每两周一次、每次 1 小时的瑜伽睡眠课程。生活压力强度水平采用 10cm 视觉模拟量表进行测量。自尊得分采用罗森伯格自尊量表进行测量。

结果

与对照组相比,瑜伽睡眠组的生活压力强度水平显著降低。与对照组相比,瑜伽组的自尊得分也显著升高。

结论

这些发现表明,瑜伽睡眠可以减轻大学生的生活压力强度水平,提高他们的自尊。
