T- and B-lymphocytes have been studied in 36 patients with chronic lymphatic leukaemia (CLL). Each 12 cases remained untreated or were treated with chlorambucil or extracorporeal irradiation of the blood (ECIB). The patients were classified according to the staging system proposed by Rai et al. In all groups we found significantly elevated B- and T-cells. There was no correlation between the stage of the disease and the proportion of lymphocytes. B-lymphocytes were reduced significantly by ECIB, whereas T-lymphocytes have not been influenced.
