OBJECTIVES
Masses in the parapharyngeal space often pose a diagnostic and therapeutic challenge due to an inaccessible location for biopsy and proximity to critical neurovascular structures of the neck. The aims of this study are to describe a rare case of Castleman disease (CD) presenting in the parapharyngeal space.
METHODS
Case report of a 38-year-old male presenting to a tertiary care center and literature review.
RESULTS & CONCLUSIONS: The parapharyngeal space is an unusual location for CD. Surgeons, radiologists, and pathologists must be aware of this disease entity within the differential diagnosis to provide appropriate perioperative counseling for patients.
目的
由于咽旁间隙的肿物位置难以进行活检且靠近颈部重要的神经血管结构，因此对其进行诊断和治疗颇具挑战。本研究旨在描述1例罕见的发生于咽旁间隙的Castleman病（CD）病例。
方法
对1例就诊于三级医疗中心的38岁男性患者进行病例报告并进行文献复习。
结果与结论
CD发生于咽旁间隙实属罕见。外科医生、放射科医生和病理科医生在鉴别诊断时必须了解这一疾病实体，以便为患者提供适当的围手术期咨询。
