Patients search YouTube for content, and the topic of meniscus is popular. The reliability and quality of meniscus videos is low. Most videos are non-physician-based. Physicians' videos are more reliable. Video "dislikes" are a negative predictor of reliability, with an inverse relationship of viewers' "thumbs down" as a good predictor of the unreliable videos. Providers need to take an active role in informing patients to increase their comprehension, thereby providing the treatment path that leads to improved outcomes. The orthopaedic community needs to develop better educational online videos with high reliability and quality to better inform patients.
