Experimental levels of the configurations 3 4, 3 5, 3 6, 3 44, 3 4, and 3 5 of Cu ii were compared with corresponding calculated values. The electrostatic interactions between the configuration 3 44 and the configurations 3 4, 3 5, and 3 6 were considered explicitly. It was shown that the configurations 3 4 and 3 5 of Cu ii do not interact strongly with other configurations.
