Two groups of odd levels in Ni ii were investigated: those belonging to the complex 3 4 + 3 44+3 5 and those belonging to the configuration 3 4. In the first group the calculated positions of the levels were fit to the positions of the 174 observed levels with an rms error of 133 cm. The fit for the second group was based on 60 observed levels and had an rms error of 25 cm. The predictions of this investigation helped in the discovery of many of the observed levels.
