More than 500 cases of lymphatic edema of the limbs due to various etiologies have been seen since 1979. 478 surgical procedures have been carried out in 407 of them, including 267 lymphovenous anastomoses. Early and long-term positive results were obtained in 85% and 70% of cases respectively. The maximum follow-up period is 8 years. These results confirm the efficacy of such anastomoses. Best results were obtained in secondary lymphedema. Peroperative measurement of lymphatic pressure is important in determination of the subsequent prognosis of anastomoses. Results are also proportional to the number of lymph vessels shunted into veins.
