Sex is one of the major social classes in any society. Gender identity as the most fundamental element of human life from beginning to end. While most people with behavior and attitudes appropriate to their physiological gender, but among them are also those sexual behaviors with their physical sex does not match, that say to this group transsexual people. The aim of this study was to investigate happiness and mental health in transsexual individuals before surgery and after surgery.
This quasi-experimental study, consisted of 42 patients before surgery and after surgery inside Iran in 2016-2017. Snowball sampling method was selected. The instrument was Oxford Happiness Questionnaire (OHQ) and Symptom Check List (SCL25). Data were analyzed using SPSS, -test independent groups and oneway ANOVA.
There was significant difference between transsexual individuals before surgery and after surgery in mean score of happiness (<0.01) (=-4/84). Moreover, there was significant difference between the two groups in mean score of mental health (<0.01) (f=19/13).
Transsexual individuals after surgery experienced more happiness and mental health than those before surgery.
性别是任何社会中的主要社会类别之一。性别认同是人类生活自始至终最基本的要素。虽然大多数人的行为和态度与其生理性别相符，但其中也有一些人的性行为与其生理性别不匹配，这群人被称为变性者。本研究的目的是调查变性者手术前后的幸福感和心理健康状况。
这项准实验研究，在2016 - 2017年期间纳入了伊朗境内42名手术前后的患者。采用雪球抽样法。使用的工具是牛津幸福感问卷（OHQ）和症状自评量表（SCL25）。数据采用SPSS进行分析，独立样本t检验和单因素方差分析。
变性者手术前后的幸福感平均得分存在显著差异（<0.01）（=-4/84）。此外，两组在心理健康平均得分上也存在显著差异（<0.01）（f=19/13）。
手术后的变性者比手术前体验到更多的幸福感和更好的心理健康状况。
