Morphological, immunological and biochemical aspects of pathogenesis and manifestation of the nephrotic syndrome in patients with chronic glomerulonephritis were considered on the basis of the authors' result and literature data. High clinical importance of the lymphocyte stimulation index for patients' follow-up was emphasized. 131I-albumin metabolism was studied in 105 patients phenotyping of nephrotic hyperlipoproteinemia was done in 28. The results obtained suggested the relationship of protein, lipid and carbohydrate metabolic derangements with severity of the nephrotic syndrome. Possible causation of the above phenomena was discussed.
