This study aimed to assess the level of serum Mac-2 binding protein (Mac-2BP) as a non-invasive biomarker for the diagnosis of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).
Forty patients with NAFLD and 15 healthy sex- and age-matched subjects were included in this pilot study. Serum Mac-2BP level was measured using ELISA. Liver biopsy was taken from 20 patients.
There was no statistically significant difference between patients and controls regarding the level of Mac-2BP ( = 0.209) Mac-2BP had a statistically significant correlation with the grade of lobular inflammation ( = 0464, = 0.039). The Mac-2BP cut-off value used for NASH prediction was 9.55 µg/ml, with sensitivity and specificity of 100% and 91.7%, respectively.
This study showed that Mac-2BP is not elevated in NAFLD patients compared to controls. It also demonstrated that the reliability of Mac-2BP as a biomarker for NAFLD diagnosis is still controversial and needs more investigation.
本研究旨在评估血清Mac-2结合蛋白(Mac-2BP)水平作为非酒精性脂肪性肝病(NAFLD)诊断的非侵入性生物标志物。
本初步研究纳入了40例NAFLD患者和15例年龄及性别匹配的健康受试者。采用酶联免疫吸附测定法(ELISA)检测血清Mac-2BP水平。对20例患者进行了肝活检。
患者与对照组之间Mac-2BP水平差异无统计学意义(P = 0.209)。Mac-2BP与小叶炎症分级具有统计学意义的相关性(P = 0.464,P = 0.039)。用于非酒精性脂肪性肝炎(NASH)预测的Mac-2BP临界值为9.55μg/ml,敏感性和特异性分别为100%和91.7%。
本研究表明,与对照组相比,NAFLD患者的Mac-2BP未升高。研究还表明,Mac-2BP作为NAFLD诊断生物标志物的可靠性仍存在争议,需要更多研究。
