Abstract

AIM

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of a multimedia training on pain management attitudes and practices of paediatric nurses.

DESIGN

A single-blind randomized trial.

METHODS

Paediatric nurses ( = 120) from a public hospital randomly allocated into two groups, lecturing and multimedia training groups. Nurses in the control group received four one-hour training sessions. In the intervention group, the same educational content was used as a film with text, audio and animation and presented as a multimedia CD. In both groups, using a questionnaire, we measured pain management attitudes and skills at baseline and then 1 week and 1 month after the training over. Data were analysed in SPSS20 software, and  < .05 was considered statistically significant.

RESULTS

The mean of attitude scores of the lecturing group was 104.74 one week after the study and 109.40 one month later versus 74.72. The above-mentioned scores in the multimedia group were 112.72 and 115.04, respectively, versus 78.70 ( < .001). Also, the mean scores of nurses' performance in the lecturing group before, 1 week and 1 month after the study were 12.48, 26.60 and 28.22, respectively, versus 12.58, 28.68 and 28.98, in multimedia group; this difference was statistically significant ( < .05).

将一家公立医院的儿科护士(n=120)随机分为两组,即讲座组和多媒体培训组。对照组护士接受了四节为时一小时的培训。在干预组中,使用了相同的教育内容,以文字、音频和动画呈现的电影形式作为多媒体 CD。在两组中,使用问卷在基线以及培训后 1 周和 1 个月时测量疼痛管理态度和技能。数据在 SPSS20 软件中进行分析, <.05 被认为具有统计学意义。

结果

讲座组的态度评分平均值为 104.74,研究后一周为 109.40,一个月后为 74.72。多媒体组的上述分数分别为 112.72 和 115.04,而 78.70( <.001)。此外,讲座组护士在研究前、1 周和 1 个月后的操作评分平均值分别为 12.48、26.60 和 28.22,而多媒体组的分数分别为 12.58、28.68 和 28.98,差异具有统计学意义( <.05)。
