Diagnosis and management of plasmacytomas.

Although no optimal dose-response relationship has been defined for the local control of extramedullary plasmacytomas, the author recommends high local doses of 5000 cGy or more and field sizes sufficient to cover the primary mass, all its extensions as evident by CT scan, and the regional lymph nodes. Plasmacytomas of bone also should be treated aggressively.
