Our experiences with more than 1200 cases submitted to high resolution ultrasound examination during a one year period are described. The findings on B-scan sonography are compared to those for radiology. The reliability of both methods was checked by reference to histological findings and the course of the disease. The indications, capabilities and limits of high resolution ultrasound are discussed.
