Serum kisspeptin levels correlated with anti-mullerian hormone levels in women with and without polycystic ovarian syndrome.

Abstract

MATERIALS AND METHODS

This was a prospective, cross-sectional, comparative study that included 70 women with PCOS and 58 non PCOS controls. PCOS patients were diagnosed according to the Rotterdam criteria. Age, body mass index (BMI), number of menstrual cycles per year, and the Ferriman-Gallwey Score were determined for each woman. Serum levels of kisspeptin, follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH), thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), estradiol, total testosterone, dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate DHEA-S), AMH, fasting glucose and insulin were determined.

RESULTS

Women with PCOS were younger ( < .001), with higher BMI ( = .027) and glucose values ( < .001); while displaying less number of menstrual cycles per year ( < .001). Although serum kisspeptin levels were similar in both groups, age was negatively (= -0.33, = .00018) and serum AMH levels were positively correlated ( = 0.25, = .0039) with the serum kisspeptin levels in women with the PCOS. After adjusting for age, serum kisspeptin levels were comparable in both groups ( > .05). Serum LH, AMH, DHEA-S and total testosterone glucose, insulin levels and HOMA-IR values were significantly higher in women with PCOS as compared to controls (all < .05).

CONCLUSIONS

Serum kisspeptin levels were similar in women with and without PCOS but positively correlated with AMH serum levels in PCOS women.

这是一项前瞻性、横断面、对照研究，共纳入 70 名 PCOS 患者和 58 名非 PCOS 对照。PCOS 患者根据鹿特丹标准诊断。记录每位女性的年龄、体重指数（BMI）、每年月经周期数和 Ferriman-Gallwey 评分。测定血清 kisspeptin、卵泡刺激素（FSH）、黄体生成素（LH）、促甲状腺激素（TSH）、雌二醇、总睾酮、硫酸脱氢表雄酮（DHEA-S）、抗缪勒管激素（AMH）、空腹血糖和胰岛素水平。

结果

PCOS 组女性更年轻（ < .001），BMI 更高（ = .027），血糖值更高（ < .001）；而每年月经周期数较少（ < .001）。尽管两组的血清 kisspeptin 水平相似，但血清 AMH 水平与 PCOS 患者的血清 kisspeptin 水平呈正相关（ = 0.25， = .0039），与年龄呈负相关（ = -0.33， = .00018）。校正年龄后，两组间血清 kisspeptin 水平无差异（ > .05）。与对照组相比，PCOS 组女性的血清 LH、AMH、DHEA-S、总睾酮、血糖、胰岛素水平和 HOMA-IR 值显著升高（均 < .05）。
