Nonspecific (ulcerative) proctitis/proctosigmoiditis has been recognized as a clinical entity for many years. Based on clinical data accumulated over the past 25 years it can be considered a form of ulcerative colitis, indistinguishable from that extending more proximally throughout the large intestine and characterized primarily by extent of disease.
非特异性（溃疡性）直肠炎/直肠乙状结肠炎作为一种临床实体已被认可多年。根据过去25年积累的临床数据，它可被视为溃疡性结肠炎的一种形式，与累及大肠更上段的溃疡性结肠炎难以区分，主要以病变范围为特征。
