Pseudomonas aeruginosa is the most common cause of corneal ulcers in the southern United States as well as being the most virulent corneal pathogen; corneal perforations can follow. The emergence of multiple resistant Pseudomonas organisms in burn units may lead to an increased incidence of this tragic complication.
