Much controversy still exists in the treatment of otitis media with effusion. A double-blind randomised prospective trial during which bromhexine hydrochloride was compared with a placebo is reported. Information from 60 patients was analysed and the results reveal interesting findings on the effects of bromhexine on middle-ear clearance. The data clearly reveal that bromhexine retards resolution of the effusion. Further discussion of the literature gives insight into the controversy surrounding the treatment of middle-ear effusion. Steroids are proposed for further research and clinical trials.
在分泌性中耳炎的治疗方面仍存在诸多争议。本文报道了一项双盲随机前瞻性试验，该试验将盐酸氨溴索与安慰剂进行了对比。分析了60名患者的信息，结果揭示了氨溴索对中耳积液清除效果的有趣发现。数据清楚地表明，氨溴索会延缓积液的消退。对相关文献的进一步讨论有助于深入了解围绕中耳积液治疗的争议。建议对类固醇进行进一步研究和临床试验。
