Abstract

This study was performed to determine the bacteriological profile and antibiotic sensitivity pattern of culture samples of patients with cancer at our institute. The study was undertaken to formulate an antibiotic policy for the treatment of infection in these patients.  The study was performed in the Department of Microbiology of a regional cancer center during the period from January 2017 to December 2017. Samples were collected under all aseptic precaution, and they were processed as per the Clinical and Laboratory Standard Institute Guideline 2017.  A total of 464 clinical samples (urine, blood, sputum, pus, etc.) were collected and processed for culture, of which 198 (42.67%) samples showed culture positive that were identified as per standard recommended procedures and antibiotic susceptibility testing was performed on isolates as per the Clinical Laboratory Standard Institute guidelines 2017. (48), (45) (52), Coagulase-negative (17), and (15) were most commonly encountered. Of the 132 Gram-negative isolates, 101 (76.5%) were extended-spectrum β-lactamase producers. Among the 45 staphylococcal isolates, 18 (40%) were methicillin-resistant .  The present study reveals microbiological profile in patients attending our cancer institute.

本研究旨在确定我院癌症患者培养样本的细菌学特征及抗生素敏感性模式。开展该研究是为了制定针对这些患者感染治疗的抗生素策略。

本研究于2017年1月至2017年12月期间在一家地区癌症中心的微生物科进行。样本在所有无菌预防措施下采集,并按照临床和实验室标准协会2017年指南进行处理。

共采集了464份临床样本(尿液、血液、痰液、脓液等)并进行培养处理,其中198份(42.67%)样本培养呈阳性,按照标准推荐程序进行鉴定,并根据临床实验室标准协会2017年指南对分离株进行抗生素敏感性测试。(48)、(45)、(52)、凝固酶阴性(17)和(15)最为常见。在132株革兰氏阴性分离株中,101株(76.5%)产超广谱β-内酰胺酶。在45株葡萄球菌分离株中,18株(40%)耐甲氧西林。

本研究揭示了在我院癌症研究所就诊患者的微生物学特征。
