The present study examined the association between outcome expectations, self-efficacy, and intention to disclose HIV status to children among HIV-positive women in China, and the moderating and mediating role of self-efficacy on the association between outcome expectations and intention to disclose. A cross-sectional survey was conducted among 179 HIV-positive mothers who had at least one living child aged >5 years and had not yet disclosed their HIV status to her oldest child. Results from hierarchical regressions revealed that after adjusting for socio-demographic and medical variables, negative outcome expectations had a negative association ( = -0.22), while disclosure self-efficacy had a positive association ( = 0.43) with an intention to disclose HIV. The moderation effect of self-efficacy on the association between outcome expectations and intention to disclose HIV was not significant. Results from structural equation modeling showed that self-efficacy mediated the association between negative/positive outcome expectations and intention to disclose HIV. Findings support the importance of outcome expectations and self-efficacy and also the mediating role of self-efficacy in HIV disclosure among HIV-positive mothers in the Chinese context.
本研究考察了中国 HIV 阳性妇女的结果期望、自我效能感与向儿童透露 HIV 感染状况的意愿之间的关系，以及自我效能感在结果期望与透露意愿之间的关联中所起的调节和中介作用。研究采用横断面调查的方法，对 179 名至少有一名 5 岁以上存活子女且尚未向其最大子女透露 HIV 感染状况的 HIV 阳性母亲进行了调查。分层回归分析结果显示，在调整了社会人口学和医学变量后，消极的结果期望与透露意愿呈负相关（β=-0.22），而透露自我效能感与透露意愿呈正相关（β=0.43）。自我效能感对结果期望与透露 HIV 意愿之间的调节作用不显著。结构方程模型的结果显示，自我效能感在消极/积极的结果期望与透露 HIV 意愿之间起中介作用。研究结果支持了在考虑到中国国情的情况下，结果期望和自我效能感对 HIV 阳性母亲 HIV 透露的重要性，以及自我效能感在其中的中介作用。
