The author describes his visit to Ethiopia in January, 1987. Despite the political and social problems in this country, the program run by Orthopaedics Overseas proved gratifying and educational. The orthopaedic needs of Ethiopia remain great. Besides the backlog of orthopaedic cases which require treatment, there is a shortage of orthopaedic implants and instrumentations. The ongoing assistance of Orthopaedics Overseas is needed and welcomed.
