Abstract

Selenium surrounded by oxygen in a trigonal-bipyramidal arrangment-this unprecedented bonding pattern exists for LiSeO, the first orthoselenate (see picture). It crystallizes as an order variant of a predicted AB structure in which cations and anions are equally coordinated as AB.
