In summary, the authors found that both selected-subtest and selected-items short forms were highly correlated with the WAIS-R data. Nevertheless, neither method met the t-test and +/- 3-point IQ criteria. Therefore, the short forms examined here do not appear to be valid measures in assessing the intellectual functioning of mentally retarded adults.
