Abstract

An experimental band keratopathy was produced in rabbits by local injection of egg albumin and vitamin D intoxication. Histological sections have been studied by two methods of analytical microscopy: Electron Probe X rays Microanalysis (EPMA) and Secondary Ion Emission Microanalysis (SIEM). The components and early distribution of calcic precipitations were studied. Calcium, Sulphur and Phosphorus elements were observed. Despite of the highly sensitive techniques used gradual or slope precipitations were not observed any where in the cornea.
