Cachexia - A Cluster of Losses Cachexia occurs in Cancer and other incurable diseases. Cachexia is regularly underdiagnosed and undertreated. The syndrome is defined by weight-loss, which is also caused by loss of muscle mass. The underlying cause is reason a systemic inflammation.
