A variety of data sources and research studies are used to examine changes in the prevalence of cocaine use and assess the population at risk. The issues of progression to more intensified use of cocaine and the use of other drugs in combination with cocaine are investigated. Consequences of cocaine use are discussed, as is the potential impact of changing routes of administration on both the frequency and severity of those consequences.
