Taeniasis is an intestinal helminth infection due to adult tapeworms belonging to the genus Taeniasis remains a major burden in low-income countries in Asia. We present a case of intestinal perforation caused by adult tapeworm of Taenia in a 50-year-old Nepali male. The patients presented to the hospital with severe abdominal pain and intermittent vomiting. Following clinical presentations and imaging features, gastrointestinal perforation was suspected. Surgical removal of adult tapeworm of Taenia, suspected to be or carried out during exploratory laparotomy, which was followed by an uneventful postoperative period. In addition to case presentation, we systematically review published case reports on taeniasis-related intestinal perforation. A learning point from this case is clinician should maintain a clinical suspicion of taeniasis as a possible cause of intestinal perforation in endemic areas.
绦虫病是由绦虫属成虫引起的一种肠道蠕虫感染。在亚洲的低收入国家，绦虫病仍然是一个主要负担。我们报告一例50岁尼泊尔男性因绦虫成虫导致肠穿孔的病例。患者因严重腹痛和间歇性呕吐入院。根据临床表现和影像学特征，怀疑有胃肠道穿孔。在剖腹探查术中手术取出疑似或的绦虫成虫，术后恢复顺利。除了病例报告外，我们还系统回顾了已发表的关于绦虫病相关肠穿孔的病例报告。该病例的一个经验教训是，在流行地区，临床医生应始终怀疑绦虫病可能是肠穿孔的原因。
