The present status of the synthesis of biologically active peptides with the use of proteolytic enzymes such as trypsin, chemotrypsin, papain and others as the catalysts is discussed. The processes of the synthesis of enkefalin, angiotensin, cholecystokinin and endorfin described in the literature prior to 1985 are indicated. The advantages and disadvantages of the enzymatic synthesis in comparison to those of the chemical one are presented.
