Abstract

To identify and synthesize available published studies on the effect of local muscle vibration (LMV) on pain, stiffness, and function in individuals with knee OA. Five databases were searched to find relevant papers on April 29, 2020, including, PubMed, Scopus, EMBASE (Ovid), Science Citation Index, and COCHRANE Central Register for Controlled Trials (CENTRAL). Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and nonrandomized-controlled-trials (non-RCTs), such as interrupted time series and prospective cohort studies were included. Two independent reviewers screened articles and assessed inclusion through predefined criteria. Participants' characteristics, study design, intervention characteristics, outcomes, and main results were collected independently by 2 reviewers. The risk of bias assessment of included studies was conducted using Cochrane risk of bias tools for RCTs and non-RCTs. Six studies were included: 3 RCTs and 3 non-RCTs. The risk of bias in included studies was generally moderate to high. Improvement of pain, stiffness, and function following the application of LMV were reported in all studies. This review revealed the promising effect of LMV on pain, stiffness, function, and knee range of motion (ROM) improvements for individuals with knee Osteoarthritis (OA). However, further well-designed studies are required to have a convincing conclusion on the effect of LMV in individuals with knee OA.

识别并综合已发表的关于局部肌肉振动(LMV)对膝骨关节炎患者疼痛、僵硬和功能影响的研究。2020年4月29日检索了五个数据库以查找相关论文,包括PubMed、Scopus、EMBASE(Ovid)、科学引文索引和Cochrane对照试验中央注册库(CENTRAL)。纳入随机对照试验(RCT)和非随机对照试验(非RCT),如中断时间序列和前瞻性队列研究。两名独立评审员筛选文章并根据预定义标准评估纳入情况。两名评审员独立收集参与者特征、研究设计、干预特征、结局和主要结果。使用Cochrane偏倚风险工具对纳入研究进行RCT和非RCT的偏倚风险评估。纳入六项研究:3项RCT和3项非RCT。纳入研究的偏倚风险一般为中度到高度。所有研究均报告了应用LMV后疼痛、僵硬和功能的改善。本综述揭示了LMV对膝骨关节炎(OA)患者的疼痛、僵硬、功能及膝关节活动范围(ROM)改善具有显著效果。然而,需要进一步设计良好的研究才能对LMV对膝OA患者的影响得出令人信服的结论。
