Choosing a healthy diet is an increasingly a challenge for university students. The objective of this study was to compare diet and overweight/obesity in human nutrition students (HNS) and students of other careers (SOC) from a university located in Lima, Peru.
It was a cross-sectional study consisting of 158 students out of an initial sample of 170. Information was collected on the sociodemographic and anthropometric characteristics of the participants and a validated questionnaire was applied to evaluate the frequency of food consumption.
There was no significant difference in diet between HNS and SOC ( > 0.05). HNS most frequently consumed yellow/orange vegetables ( = 0.020), purple vegetables ( = 0.049), citrus fruits ( = 0.029), eggs ( = 0.002), whole milk ( = 0.013), yogurt ( = 0.017), tofu ( = 0.003), olive oil ( = 0.003), other vegetable oils ( < 0.001), and alcoholic beverages ( = 0.037) than SOC. In contrast, HNS had a lower frequency of nonfried tuber intake ( = 0.039), fried tubers ( < 0.001), milk desserts ( = 0.048), flour fritters ( = 0.027), cookies with chocolate ( = 0.050), croissants ( = 0.030), cookies with filling ( = 0.024), candies ( = 0.006), and soda ( = 0.016) than SOC. Overweight/obesity was not different between HNS and SOC ( > 0.05).
This study found significant differences in the consumption of some foods between HNS and SOC. However, it found no significant difference in diet and overweight/obesity between HNS and SOC.
选择健康饮食对大学生来说越来越具有挑战性。本研究的目的是比较秘鲁利马一所大学的人类营养学专业学生(HNS)和其他专业学生(SOC)的饮食及超重/肥胖情况。
这是一项横断面研究,初始样本为170名学生,最终纳入158名。收集了参与者的社会人口学和人体测量学特征信息,并应用一份经过验证的问卷来评估食物消费频率。
HNS和SOC在饮食方面没有显著差异(>0.05)。与SOC相比,HNS更常食用黄色/橙色蔬菜(=0.020)、紫色蔬菜(=0.049)、柑橘类水果(=0.029)、鸡蛋(=0.002)、全脂牛奶(=0.013)、酸奶(=0.017)、豆腐(=0.003)、橄榄油(=0.003)、其他植物油(<0.001)和酒精饮料(=0.037)。相比之下,HNS食用非油炸块茎(=0.039)、油炸块茎(<0.001)、牛奶甜点(=0.048)、油条(=0.027)、巧克力饼干(=0.050)、羊角面包(=0.030)、夹心饼干(=0.024)、糖果(=0.006)和汽水(=0.016)的频率低于SOC。HNS和SOC在超重/肥胖方面没有差异(>0.05)。
