Drug prophylaxis is questionable, due hemor¬rhagic risk in these patients, and explains the importance of selecting high risk popu¬lation, depending on the type of cancer and on individual risk factors for thrombosis. While the indications for prevention are well established during hospitalization for an acute condition and during cancer surgery, mostly with low molecular weight heparin, questions persist as to the indication of prophylaxis for outpatients receiving chemo¬therapy, and to the place of direct oral anticoagulant in this indication."
