Polymyositis is a myositic disease that is rarely seen as a complicating condition of pregnancy. As with other connective tissue diseases, previously reported cases of polymyositis have been associated with increased perinatal mortality and maternal morbidity. We treated a patient in whom two pregnancies had been complicated by polymyositis. In the second of these gestations, aggressive management, including maintenance therapy with oral corticosteroids, contributed to a successful outcome.
