Abstract
OPSI (overwhelming postsplenectomy infection) after traumatic or accidental splenectomy is a very rare but mostly deleterious complication. Conservation of the spleen is preferable to autologous transplantation into the greater omentum. The results at this moment are not clear and emphasize the need for further research.
