Abstract

A method for rosetting neutrophils was developed and optimal rosetting conditions determined. The adhesive properties of neutrophils and their ability to form rosettes were studied for cells in the circulating pool, and following exercise when the circulating pool had been enriched by neutrophils from the marginated pool. We found the marginated pool to be the same as the circulating pool in terms of rosetting subpopulations and the in vitro adhesive properties of these subpopulations, indicating that the two pools can be considered kinetically as one. We also showed that non-rosetting neutrophils can develop the ability to form rosettes following adhesion to glass in the presence of autologous serum.
