[Bronchial fibroscopy. Indications and results].

The authors report a personal experience of 1.159 bronchial fibroscopies performed in 3 years. They review the literature for the indications and results of bronchial fibroscopy (except results on trans-bronchial biopsies). The diagnostic value of this technique is highly superior, where bronchopulmonary cancers are concerned, to the traditional bronchoscopy. Besides these classical indications, the place of bronchial fibroscopy in intensive care, and its help for bacteriological and parasitological diagnoses, must be underlined.
