Immunization of calves against salmonellosis.

Salmonella typhimurium bacterins, containing adequate antigenic mass, protected calves against clinical signs of salmonellosis and death. Protection against salmonellosis was correspondingly reduced when the bacterin was diluted 1:10 and 1:100. A mouse protection test revealed that 17 of 18 (94%) of the S typhimurium-containing bacterin serials produced in 1977 stimulated adequate immunity.
