Edaphus nagugushikuensis sp. n., a new Japanese rove beetle species of the subfamily Euaesthetinae is described and illustrated based on a male specimen collected in the northern region of Okinawa-jima, Okinawa Prefecture, Japan. It is the 56th species of Edaphus Motschulsky known to occur in Japan, and the sixth known to inhabit the largest Ryukyuan island. Puthzs identification key to Edaphus species of the southwestern Japanese islands from 2010 is modified to include the new species.
日本狭胸步甲亚科欧拟步甲族一新种——冲绳狭胸步甲描述并图示（鞘翅目：步甲科），基于在日本冲绳县冲绳岛北部采集的一个雄性标本。这是在日本已知的第 56 种狭胸步甲，也是栖息在最大的琉球群岛上的第六种。2010 年，Puthz 对来自日本西南部岛屿的狭胸步甲属种的鉴别钥匙进行了修改，以包括新种。
