Lung cancer with solitary metastasis to the brain has been treated by surgical resection of both lesions over a 25-year period. Survival was 55 per cent at 1 year and 31 per cent at 2 years. Mean survival was 2.3 years, surpassing the 6-month average survival with more conservative therapy. An aggressive surgical approach to lung cancer with solitary cerebral metastasis results in improved survival and a better quality of life.
