For the majority of demented elderly persons the family is the most important resource of support. Living with a demented family member lays a heavy strain on the care-givers. Appropriate counselling may reduce the care-givers' burden and enable them to be more effective. In the present report, some general guidelines of family support are proposed, summarising two years of experience in a special outpatient clinic for the demented elderly.
对于大多数患有痴呆症的老年人来说，家庭是最重要的支持资源。与患有痴呆症的家庭成员生活在一起给照顾者带来了沉重的负担。适当的咨询可能会减轻照顾者的负担，并使他们更有效率。在本报告中，提出了一些家庭支持的一般指导方针，总结了在一家专门为患有痴呆症的老年人设立的门诊诊所两年的经验。
