Abstract

By means of a questionnaire sent to 114 hospitals using the remote afterloading device, the type of Co-60 sources and the type and material of the applicator for intracavitary irradiation of the cervical cancer has been surveyed. In 90% of the hospitals, the one-point source is used for the tandem source, and in 80% of these hospitals the easily flexible polyethylene tube is used as the material of the tandem applicator. For the ovoidal source, the one-point source in 40%. In seven hospitals, an unsuitable ovoidal applicator seems to have been chosen for the type of the Co-60 source.
