[Use of the excimer laser in experimental laser angioplasty].

XeCl-excimer laser produce pulsed far uv-light (wave length lambda = 308 nm). Biophysical effects were studied on arteriosclerotic human cadaver aortic and coronary vessels. Ablative photodecomposition results in cleanliness of the incisions with minimal thermal side effects.
