The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of inoculating two bacteriocin-producing strains, ATCC14917 and LP1-4, at ensiling on the in vitro ruminal fermentation characteristics and methane production of alfalfa silage with two dry matter (DM)contents. Before ensiling, fresh alfalfa was wilted to a moderate DM content (355 g/kg) and a high DM content (428 g/kg). The wilted alfalfa was treated with (1) distilled water (control), (2) commercial strain MTD/1 (MTD/1), (3) bacteriocin-producing ATCC14917 (ATCC14917), and (4) a bacteriocin-like substance producing LP1-4 (LP1-4) at 1 × 10 colony forming units (CFU)/g fresh weight. After 90 d of ensiling, the silages were used for in vitro rumen fermentation. Inoculation with the two bacteriocin-producing strains at ensiling remarkably reduced ( < 0.05) in vitro ruminal CH production and enhanced DM digestibility compared with the control group regardless of DM content. For silages with high DM content, inoculation with the bacteriocin-producing strains even increased ( < 0.05) in vitro ruminal total volatile fatty acid production. Therefore, the bacteriocin-producing inoculants have a great potential to mitigate ruminal methane emission but without an adverse effect on rumen fermentation of the inoculated alfalfa silage.
本研究的目的是调查在青贮时接种两种产细菌素的菌株ATCC14917和LP1-4对两种干物质(DM)含量的苜蓿青贮饲料体外瘤胃发酵特性和甲烷产生的影响。在青贮之前,将新鲜苜蓿萎蔫至中等DM含量(355 g/kg)和高DM含量(428 g/kg)。将萎蔫的苜蓿用(1)蒸馏水(对照)、(2)商业菌株MTD/1(MTD/1)、(3)产细菌素的ATCC14917(ATCC14917)和(4)产类细菌素物质的LP1-4(LP1-4)以1×10菌落形成单位(CFU)/克鲜重进行处理。青贮90天后,将青贮饲料用于体外瘤胃发酵。与对照组相比,青贮时接种这两种产细菌素的菌株显著降低(<0.05)体外瘤胃CH产生,并提高DM消化率,且与DM含量无关。对于高DM含量的青贮饲料,接种产细菌素的菌株甚至增加(<0.05)体外瘤胃总挥发性脂肪酸的产生。因此,产细菌素的接种剂在减轻瘤胃甲烷排放方面具有巨大潜力,但对接种的苜蓿青贮饲料的瘤胃发酵没有不利影响。
