Coccidiosis in chickens is one of the major problems in the poultry industry, caused by protozoan parasites of the genus . The current study used morphological and molecular characteristics to identify spp. infecting domestic chickens ( in the Riyadh region of Saudi Arabia. In this study, 120 domestic poultry were examined and 30 were found to be infected with oocysts of spp. (25%). According to the morphology of the recorded oocysts, five species were found. was the first species discovered, and it was distinguished by oblong, ovoid-shaped oocysts with double-layered walls that measured 20 (23-23) and 17 (16-20) μm. The second species was , which had oval- to egg-shaped oocysts with double-layered walls and measurements of 28 (26-29) and 23 (20-24) μm. The third species was , characterized by oval-shaped oocysts with double-layered walls and measurements of 21 (20-24) × 17 (16-20) μm. was the fourth species that was characterized by spherical-shaped oocysts with single-layered walls and measurements of 21 (19-23) × 20 (19-20) μm. was the last species to have oval-shaped oocysts with double-layered walls and measurements of 20 (18-25) and 17 (14-20) μm. The percentages of infection with species were as follows: 10.84%; 5.84%; 4.16%; 2.5%; and 1.66%. Nested PCR based on the amplification of internal transcribed spacer I (ITS-I) regions confirmed the presence of the five species in the examined fecal samples with their specific amplicon sizes: (383 bp), (145 bp), (278 bp), (116 bp), and (321 bp).
鸡球虫病是家禽业的主要问题之一,由艾美耳属原生动物寄生虫引起。本研究利用形态学和分子特征鉴定了沙特阿拉伯利雅得地区感染家鸡的艾美耳属物种。在本研究中,检查了120只家禽,发现30只感染了艾美耳属物种的卵囊(25%)。根据记录的卵囊形态,发现了五个物种。艾美耳属的某一物种是发现的第一个物种,其特征是椭圆形、卵圆形的卵囊,有双层壁,大小为20(23 - 23)×17(16 - 20)μm。第二个物种是另一艾美耳属物种,其卵囊呈椭圆形至卵形,有双层壁,大小为28(26 - 29)×23(20 - 24)μm。第三个物种是又一艾美耳属物种,其特征是椭圆形卵囊,有双层壁,大小为21(20 - 24)×17(16 - 20)μm。某一艾美耳属物种是第四个物种,其特征是球形卵囊,有单层壁,大小为21(19 - 23)×20(19 - 20)μm。最后一个物种是另一艾美耳属物种,其卵囊呈椭圆形,有双层壁,大小为20(18 - 25)×17(14 - 20)μm。各物种的感染百分比分别如下:某一艾美耳属物种为10.84%;另一艾美耳属物种为5.84%;又一艾美耳属物种为4.16%;某一艾美耳属物种为2.5%;另一艾美耳属物种为1.66%。基于内部转录间隔区I(ITS - I)区域扩增的巢式PCR证实了在所检查的粪便样本中存在这五个艾美耳属物种,其特异性扩增子大小分别为:某一艾美耳属物种(383 bp)、另一艾美耳属物种(145 bp)、又一艾美耳属物种(278 bp)、某一艾美耳属物种(116 bp)和另一艾美耳属物种(321 bp)。
