Abstract

Nomenclatural and taxonomic issues concerning and the related taxa are presented. Types are designated for names var. (neotype at RO), var. (neotype at GH), var. (neotype at RO), (neotype at NAP), and (lectotype at LP). Holotypes are indicated for the names var. f. (EA), var. f. (EA), subsp. (PR), and var. (CORD). The names var. , var. , subsp. , , and var. are considered as hererotypic synonyms of . On the basis of morphological, cytological, and molecular data, the taxa caudatus, mantegazzianus, and gibbosus are here proposed to be treated as different species. A new name--is proposed for var. gibbosus because of a previous and validly published .
